The name "Kiringa" is derived from the nearby Kiringa river, which serves as the water source for processing coffee at the washing station. The river originates from the Mount Kenya Forest. The coffee cherries are harvested at altitudes ranging from 1700 to 1900 metres above sea level.
Located centrally in Kirinyaga, between Nyeri and Embu counties, the members of the Kabare FCS primarily cultivate the traditional SL28 and SL34 coffee varieties. The cooperative has implemented a system where factory managers rotate between factories every few seasons. This allows for the exchange of knowledge and helps maintain consistent quality across the different factories.
